LEGAL QUESTION OF THE DAY
Is it legal to walk into a store that is providing a charitable gift drive and take, say, a pink Barbie Winnebago? Of course this passes no moral law, but I'm wondering this from a legal standpoint. It's not like the item has a store code or anything. So lawyer people...this question is for you to look-up and reply on, because I don't feel like going to Toys R Us for a Barney singing bib.

Why would that be ok? I know your Barbie and Barbie family want to take an RV vacation, but Bryan, really. Is stealing from the needy really necessary?
Is it stealing from the needy if the needy have not yet received the item? I mean it's almost as if I had decided to hand over half of a scone (or crumpet) to a homeless man but changed my mind at the last second and ate it instead.
The legal question is: Does an anonymous donation of an item to a private store become the legal property of that store? Even if it is publically visible/accessible? At what point does it become property of one entity or another?
