PEACE OF MY MIND

While signing forms for a rental car up here in Calgary, I proceeded to waive all of the insurance fees. Interestingly, the last place to initial said:

I waive my peace of mind.

For some reason this doesn't seem legal to me. As a human I feel that I should not be forced to release my contentness. I guess this is some kind of waiver so that you don't sue if you're unhappy? Maybe there is more corruption up here in Canada than down in the "States".

LEGAL QUESTION OF THE DAY

Is it legal to walk into a store that is providing a charitable gift drive and take, say, a pink Barbie Winnebago? Of course this passes no moral law, but I'm wondering this from a legal standpoint. It's not like the item has a store code or anything. So lawyer people...this question is for you to look-up and reply on, because I don't feel like going to Toys R Us for a Barney singing bib.

RECENT TRAVELS

I've been pretty busy lately. Was in Portland, OR for a week of work and then a great meeting in Incline Village, NV. Lots of memories from the latter trip. Got to see two colleagues dare each other to take a swim into Lake Tahoe...which resulted in one guy doing a face-plant in the sand on his run down to the water. They both ended up going in, although the Canadian stripped down to his tighty whities and went completely under. Good thing they were sober enough not to require a rescue effort.

In this tiny "sasquatch-like" picture you use your imagination...

Also, while in Portland I found a spelling mistake at a new clinic. I seem to remember seing a similar error on an office at the Los Angeles branch of this same hospital provider network. It's amazing what gets over-looked. Electrial equipment is Shoking isn't it?
